Hello
I don't know where to begin speaking to you all as life has changed & I'm off on another adventure...
I grew up in Hamilton, ON.... Steel town & an East-end girl and started oil painting in my teens until my early 20's more or less when life got too busy. I came back to being an self-taught artist in my middle 50's but with acrylics as my new medium. This was good, the gap really, because I think I was hungrier to be a better artist, less on my plate & just more passionate about it.
I preferred realism with subjects, like my garden, nature, but also painted Historic Hamilton, Harbour life and tried my hand at pop art, modern if you will because to grow as an artist you have to try new things.
I also painted sm. rocks & clothing, preferring denims & still do paint those besides canvas.
I entered art competitions along the way & won some and for other ones it was because it challenged me to try something different, another medium or subject & just to get my name out there.
To be a known Hamilton artist was a childhood dream of mine, to have been able to exhibit in our Art Gallery Of Hamilton, twice.... fantastic!
And after 68 yrs. of only knowing Hamilton as I place I lived & grew up I find myself and my family living in East Coast Canada, New Brunswick now.
From a big city girl to a small town country girl, it's like I've moved to Mars, it's so different from anything I've ever known.
So I will find my nitch here, paint some country scenes, make new artist's friends and just enjoy my new life.
Follow me down the country roads & see where my art takes me...
Thanks for being there all these years,
Cheers,
Deb Mack
